The NHBP Health and Human Services Department (HHSD) holds the responsibility of diagnosing, healing and administering medicine to any federally recognized Tribal Members. Their staff serves federally recognized American Indians, Alaska Natives and descendants, as well as NHBP employees.

The HHSD is committed to providing caring, quality services, including medical, dental, behavioral health, social services, home visiting, health education, nutrition, fitness and transportation. They strive to provide culturally appropriate care with services like traditional healing, trauma informed and integrated care that focuses on all aspects of wellness such as emotional, mental, physical and spiritual.

The HHSD also manages community health initiatives, three health facility locations and also oversee hundreds of health-related events, programs and activities throughout each year. With a focus on improving the health and wellbeing of Tribal Members, the department frequently works with outside vendors, partners, as well as other NHBP departments.
