The NHBP Health and Human Services Department (HHSD) holds the responsibility of diagnosing, healing and administering medicine to any federally recognized Tribal Members.

The HHSD utilizes the traditional four medicines in the Medicine Wheel, as well as doctors, dentists and many other health care professionals, to manage the distribution of health care and medicines. The HHSD manages community health initiatives, three health facility locations and health care services for eligible Members of federally recognized Tribes. They also oversee hundreds of health-related events, programs and activities throughout each year. With a focus on improving the health of Tribal Members, the department frequently works with outside vendors, partners, as well as other NHBP departments.
